hi, typin one handed as expssing.

how long shd dd be awke for at this age? she is only wee, and a mat nurse advised we just do sleep feed sleep feed on 3 hrly routine, aiming to get her down within 15 min of ending feed. so no room for activity/play. seems she nmust need a bit of playtime, but she gets tired/overtired v quickly at the mo. so, what do you do with your little one?

At 7 weeks DS didn't really have time awake where he wasn't feeding... maybe a little on his play mat, or being bounced on knee... definatly not alot at all though.

Just the effort put into feeding will tire them out at that age! I would have thought about 45-60 mins awake at most was normal, including the time whilst taking a feed. It's at around 3 months they start being awake much longer between feeds.

Even changing a nappy and them looking at your face whilst doing it counts as activity for such a tiny one. If you chuck in changing a sleepsuit as well they've practically run a marathon. Seriously, just go with her flow for now. She'll become more awake when she gets to the point at which her weight can sustain her, which she'll do by feed, feed, feeding and sleep, sleep, sleeping now.
