When LO was a few months old, he loved to copy us saying goo and gaaa and more recently said mamamamama and dadadadada whilst copying us. His favourite sound was then baba babababa for everything else but now he has started to really scream instead of making any other sounds... Is this normal? Maybe I should say is this a sign that there is something wrong with his hearing or something? He never copies our sounds now but does react to music/talking and stuff...

Thanks

HI my little boy aged 8 months also seems to be favouring screaming rather than the other sounds he used to make. He does it mostly instead of laughing when you pick him up or tickle him. Its really high pitched and very loud .I have four other kids and I dont remember any of them doing it. He also says da da and ba ba but seems to prefer the screaming noise best. I am presuming its just a phase especially as like you say your little one does react to music and things. SO I am going to say lets not worry for now and hpefully they will progress onto something equally strange for us to worry about. (fifth timer but still paranoid)

My DS is 8 months and is a shrieker. He also babbles a lot and is just very chatty in general. I can't wait for him to outgrow the shrieking. Sometimes I wonder what the neighbors think .
