Nightmare nightmares - advice please

Help! My 2 year old (3 in Dec) is having nightmares. She talks about a scary man in her room. She seems genuinely very scared & doesn't want to be by herself. We live in a flat so I am never very far away. I have tried to 'take away the scary' by lifting it up & 'carrying' it out of the room. I've put a little light on & a big teddy by the door to 'look after you' but she just wont settle and is hiding under the covers. DD2 (9 months) is still stirring regularly in the night & am working 4 days a week so am exhausted.
There hasn't been any recent upheaval or changes so not sure the root of this but would welcome any advice here. I posted this in Sleep last night but got no responses but would really appreciate your help

This is just an idea but maybe together you could do an extension of you taking the scary man away and ask him to leave and tell him where to go. Have her decide where he should go to and prompt her to say when he has gone.

I tried this & it seems to have really helped (we flushed him down the loo!).
Now whenever she mentions it I remind her what she did so thanks for your advice here
