If you have a 2.5yo(ish) potty trained boy, please tell me about their weeing habits

Apologies for putting this here, but I didn't think those people who found potty training easy (not me!) or are past this stage would read the potty/toilet/nappies section of MN.

Just curious as to roughly how many times a day they use the loo or potty and at what times. Some idea of what we're aiming at (no pun intended ) would be really helpful.

I don't think you'll get anywhere near a standardised response with this one. Some children seem to pee loads of times a day and others seem to be able to hold on for hours.

When I potty trained my ds2, I got extremely concerned by 2.30pm on day 2 that he hadn't done a single wee all day and was clearly in pain, having worked out how to hold it in, but not how to get it out... Even six months later, he only goes for a wee about 3 times a day, and seems incapable of emptying his bladder unless it is pretty near bursting. Predictably, given this particular problem, he has been dry all night from about a week after we started potty training, and I even find it hard to get him to wee first thing in the morning. His older brother basically wees when we ask him to, even now he's nearly 5, although very occasionally he will offer up the fact that he needs a wee without any prompting. Since it is mostly at our suggestion, he tends to go first thing, once in the middle of the morning, once after lunch, once again in the middle of the afternoon and once before bedtime.

That is helpful, thank you. Any more?

I'd no idea if I should be expecting ds1 to produce something every hour, 2 hours, or 3 hours. At the moment he is mainly wetting himself at random times of the day (but with the occasional dry 3 hour stretch).

First thing in the morning and about 25 minutes after a drink (I acutally timed him when potty training!!). DS drinks loads so quite often at 2.5 yo. nowadays, that he has been using loo for some time (he is now 3) he goes abbout 3 times in the morning, 3-4 times pm.

Unless he's found a really good drink, DS needs a wee every 2 hours or so. Up to 3 hours sometimes.
