My 15mo DS only has 5 teeth...

...and I am beginning to wonder if that's all he will ever have

The 5th one came through about 2 months ago, but nothing since then - no dribbling, no sore-looking gums etc.

Does this mean we are destined for a horrid few weeks where all of the buggers emerge at once?? How many teeth does the average 15mo have anyway?

My DD is also 15 months and has 6. The last ones came through at about 11 months so we've been waiting a while for more! I can see them in the gums but they're not really moving.

Funny how they differ so much - was just reading another thread where someone mentioned that their 17mo has almost all their milk teeth!

Sounds like my post a month ago: DS was 22mo, and only had 4 teeth (and nothing had appeared for 5 months).

Most of his peers seemed to have at least 10 teeth my that age, but it didn't start worrying me until his 2nd birthday started approaching.

Then some new ones started peeking through a couple of weeks ago, and suddenly they had become 4 fully fledged molars (heaven knows where his central incisors are...I thought they were supposed to be next).

Have to say that he wasn't a happy boy when they were coming through, but they did so at the same time as a chest infection - so none of us got much sleep / got to work.

jaz2 · 03/11/2008 12:59

Sorry, it is supposed to be lateral incisors next...my sleep addled brain isn't working properly!

Don't worry, they'll appear, just make the most of him sleeping!

My DS didn't even start to cut his first tooth until 13mo - I was seriously starting to ask whether it was possible to not get teeth at all!

He got his last one just before his 4th birthday!

No way of predicting, really, you've just got to take them as they come.

likessleep · 03/11/2008 13:10

that's reassuring misselizabeth, my 12 month old is still gummy without teeth! feels like he has been dribbling and red cheeked since he was 4 months old!

ExtraFancy · 05/11/2008 13:02

I wonder if it means they'll fall outlater? Otherwise it looks like he'll only have some of them for a couple of months

My DD only had 5 teeth at ths age, and they came through in a wierd order, so she looked a bit strange and gappy for a while.

emum2 · 05/11/2008 14:07

my dd is 14 months and has no teeth still, apparently its normal, i think as long as they have them all by 3!

SparklyGothKat · 05/11/2008 14:08

My Ds2 is 13 months and has 2 side teeth only...

giraffescantdancethetango · 05/11/2008 14:11

16mo i look after only has 2

Debra1981 · 05/11/2008 16:25

my dd didnt get any til 15 months, now 30 months and has most of them

Neeerly3 · 05/11/2008 16:30

my DT's were 17 mo when they got a tooth each. They got two pretty close together, then another couple a few more months later and I think had a full set about 3.5yo.

Neeerly3 · 05/11/2008 16:32

apparently I teethed at 14mo, and my last milk tooth fell out when i was 16 (YEARS!)

wasabipeanut · 05/11/2008 16:35

My ds has got his 1st 2 teeth at 13mo and at 14mo is showing no sign of any others!

My friends lo at the same age bar a few days has virtually an entire mouthful - think its 14 she said!

wasabipeanut · 05/11/2008 16:38

Actually about 2 days after the 2nd tooth camer through my ds when very tired managed to fall in the barthroom and knock his mouth on the little pedal bin in there. There was blood and screaming and I thought for a horrible second this was going to be the shortest lived tooth in history.

Tooth however survived although the bin lid has a slight dent!

Bubbaluv · 05/11/2008 16:44

Ds is 14 months and has 5. 4 on the top and only one on the bottom! Looks very strange, but wow he can use them!!
