Someone please come and tell me why DS - 2yrs and 5mths is still screeching out at night??

We have tried everything

Grobag - he cries regardless of whether he is wearing it - ditto for a duvet
Night light - in the room, no night light or next door but casting a reassuring glow
Dummy and comfort cloth/no dummy or comfort cloth

Nothing works!!!!

He will screech out and when we try to soothe him, he gets really angry and hits out at us. If however, we leave him to it, that causes melt down and full on waking. It happens on busy days, quiet days, days where he's napped, days where he hasn't....

I think you get the picture by now..

Is he awake or could he be having night terrors? I don't know much about them, but DS had them at 18 months for a few nights and would yell really loudly for a minute. I'm sure someone else will know more.

I have a dd same age, she can kick off every now and again and what seems to shut her up is quietly talking to her bunny, I pick him up and nurse him quietly, she shuts up just so she can listen to what I am saying. I gently sooth bunny, then ask her to look after him because he is scared with all the shouting, for some astonishing reason it works, would never have worked on my ds, but hey desperate times!
