Dd 2 has had a few illnesses lately. Is now asking for calpol all the time

"Want pink medicine Mummy" and always says "Yum" after swallowing it.

tell her no

seriously a girl at school used to have calpol all the time and it has ruined her immune systmem and her teeth

WhizzzingAroundOnABroomstick · 27/10/2008 09:09

You just say NO and don't give it to her!

hunkermunker · 27/10/2008 09:09

Say no. How often's she having it?

MarmadukeScarletbloodstains · 27/10/2008 09:13

Only give it if she has a temp of over 38. Buy the most disgusting flavoured own brand white paracetamol you can get for this purpose.

ilovemydog · 27/10/2008 09:13

Yes, DD would be a pink junkie if allowed.

It's addictive. Not sure if it's the taste or the high they get from it?

Think you need to hide the bottle...

FourArms · 27/10/2008 09:13

Could you change to a different type of liquid paracetamol if you have to give it to her? Perhaps something orange flavoured? You can get sugar-free varieties, but they have their own problems!

Flossish · 27/10/2008 09:14

DS always looks forward to having it! Wouldn't say he is addicted but is very quick to ask for it.

On the upside he lets me take his temp quite happily as he now knows that it may lead to medicine...

twinsetandpearls · 27/10/2008 09:15

dd also loves calpol and we have to be very strict about giving it to her, she has been known to invent illnesses in order to get it.

dd is pretty fond of it

to avoid a discussion, i dont keep the bottle in sight

i remember her crying her eyes out when she wasnt allowed any and ds crying his eyes out as i forced him to have some

how old is she? how often does she ask for it?

fizzbuzz · 27/10/2008 09:50

The bottle is always hidden..

The problem is she is ill again now, bad cold, temperature etc and is still recovering from a water infection.

I use it for pain relief not for temp. I prefer Nurofen for that (she likes that too!)

does she want it because she likes the taste, or does she want it because she isnt well, a little made her feel better so she wants the whole bottle so she feels much better?

fizzbuzz · 27/10/2008 09:56

She likes the taste!
