My little boy is 20 months old but the hardly says any words. Just always chatting in baby language. When should they start talking any advice.
Thanks
Nicola

Well, if he's babbling he's aware to make noise.. There is that horrible saying 'they're all different...'

Does your ds use any words? Is his babbling comprising of attempted words? Does he use books much or get 'chatted' to a lot? I've got a dd so i can't guess if boys are different to girls in their language dev, but my friend who has a ds told me boys tend to dev. physical faster and mental, eg language etc slower, whereas with girls its opp?
Sorry if not much use!

Does he point to things and babble about them? has he got ANY recognisable words (to you I mean?)

Yeah he is always pointing then shouts for things in his babble. He loves reading books and very clever with everything else just does say anything

it might be if he's pointing at things and geting what he needs or wants he's nt needing to develop his speech? i am guessing this tho!! my nephew decided to tell hs mum by wandering into kitche, pointing at clock then his mouth and marching off! they did get referred to a speech therapist but it was nothing major, just hints and tips on how to steer speech to encourage talking.
