Me and my shadow - is there anything I can do to help my 9 month old through being clingy

DS2 is so clingy at the moment. He always wants to be held and follows me around the flat. If I stop still, he will pull himself up holding onto my legs and will cry until he is picked up. I pick him up when I can, but sometimes I just have to get on with other things and also look after ds1. DS1 does not like it if I am alwas holding onto his brother...

We never had this clingy phase with ds1 so I'm at a loss with how to deal with it and help him through. We live overseas so have no family near us to help out....

Would appreciate any inputs.

Thanks

sannie - my 10 month old is like this at the moment - he won't let anyone else hold him apart from my me and my dp. It is really hard work sometimes....I never had this with my dd so a bit of a shock. He is getting better and will sit and play for a bit as long as he can see me. It is a phase and he will get less clingy. Is your ds too heavy for a sling? Mine is a bit too heavy for that, but it might be an answer for you

i have this problem with DD, who is 10 months. one thing that helps a bit when i need to go to the loo etc. is that i try and make sure she's occupied and then i wave goodbye and smile and then leave, rather than sneaking off, which i used to do, and which alwyas ended in screaming

thanks...

janx: ds is also too heavy for a sling....

pinata: good idea about waving goodbye...will try to do this

As with anything to do with kids, I guess we just have to wait until they grow out of it
