Still not crawling/ walking

My daughter is 13mnths old and is still making no attempts to crawl or try to stand/walk. She commandos everywhere and can sit up from lying down but hates to put weight on her feet. Has anyone else found this problem?

Yes Fraz, and do not worry, my DS didn't crawl until he was 17 months and didn't walk until he was nearly 2, now at 3.25 he is running around just like any other child his age, he was very reluctant to put weight on his feel as well.
Everybody kept saying it was because he was a very contented baby, and was more into talking etc

thanks for that. ds is also very good at talking etc and very contented but you cant help worry and compare all the time

I know what you mean, My HV was even a little concerned when he wasn't weight bearing, but they just do it when they want to. My friends DS was running about climbing up things, but didn't say a word. I know which one I would rather have. Enjoy the fact that where you put them is where they stay, cause as soon as they start crawling/walking you wish they would just set still.

Same as everyone else, Fraz. My dd only walked at 15 months and bum shuffled / crawled until then. However, she said her first word at 10 months and now at 16 months has a bigger vocubulary than any other baby her age I know. I heard somewhere that they like to concentrate on one thing at a time. I worried just like you are doing, all I can say to you is that she WILL walk, just when she's good and ready. I kept telling myself that when she was 14, she would not be scooping her bum along the road with all her mates when they went out shopping.

MY DS2 didn't sit unaided until about 10 months, crawling at about a year and started walking at 15 months whereas DS1 crawled at 7 months and walked just a few days after his first birthday and I have to admit I much rather have one that does it late because it an absolute nightmare once they get going.
DS2 is 20 months now and almost keeps up with DS1 whos nearly 4 so you can imagine the bumps and bruises he gets, his little legs can't keep up with his body half the time.

My dd is the opposite, she is nearly 7 months old and has been sitting unaided for about 6 weeks. She isnow trying to crawl and can move herself backward slightly. She prefers to be on her feet though and love it when I let her hold onto the headboard so she can look out the window.

Fraz - if your DD can get where she wants by commando style then she doesn't have a reason to walk or crawl 'properly' at the moment. I am sure she will get there in her own time.

Fraz, my daughter (third child) is 16 months and is still not walking, although she has started (only just) rolling over, getting up into a sitting position, pulling herself to a standing position. She bum shuffles and when she rolls onto her front looks like a fish out of water. She failed her 8 month development check (see my conversation under that heading) on gross and fine motor skills but, after being referred to Great Ormond Street Hospital for something else (which has now been given the all clear), the specialist said that she is fine, just happy, contented and will get there in her own time. In the past month or so, she has come on leaps and bounds because the time was right for her to do so. At 8 months she wouldn't bear weight on her legs but now loves walking around the furniture, etc. Your daugther will get there - all in her own good time.
