Any recommendations for baby pushalong walkers?

We are going to get DS a walker for his 1st birthday (a push along type, not the type with wheels that the baby sits in). I have seen a few now but wondered what ones are best? Plastic with all the lights and sounds or nice wooden block ones? There is one in mothercare I like as it looks sturdy (sorry not sure how to do links!)...

...or do you think an all singing and dancing lights and sounds plastic one is better?

DD got the stride to ride lion for xmas last year and she loved it. She is now walking well and sits on it and rides it around the front room. Would really recomend it

aha, dd was 1 in AUg and we had the asame thoughts
we are toy snobs so really didn;t want lightup plastic one
got dd a lovely wooden Pintoys one that came with wooden blocks

looks lovely
blocks are ace
very sturdy, wheels have rubber treads
only about £30 (do a Google Shopping search)
but it only goes in straight lines and drives dd mad, she much prefers pushing the wheelybug (which says DO NOT USE AS BABY WALKER etc) but has castors so steers easily

v-tech plastic light up musical hell - they love them.

lardybump, what make is that lion one?

DONT get a TESCO one they are naff, we got one fore DS2, it was very cheap and it showed the farking thing fell apart after one go!

DD got the Fisher-Price Walk and Ride Lion when she was 11 months (Christmas last year) and loved it then and still does now. Also has a wooden block trolley (both presents) but she prefers the lion. Tend to use trolley inside (rubber wheels, non slip) and lion outside (smooth wheels and lighter so easier on bumpy surfaces and easier to clean). Music not too irritating. Also, lion's on offer in toysrus at the moment - £10 off so now £25

The stride to ride lion is Fisher Price. Here it is (we got ours from argos though and it was cheaper).
