He is 5 and we were doing his reading - it is ORT and we were discussing how some of the characters were feeling in the picture. He said "Mum is happy" and I said "What about Dad?"

"Oh" says DS1 "eeeh comme ci comme ca" complete with accent. I got the giggles and DH told me off. It is not a phrase we use at all but he has been doing a little French in school and must have had it in his mind. Some of you have much poncier kids but we are as common as muck so this filled me with much hilarity and I knew I had to share on here.

I was watching a friend's kids one day - she is a MNetter but shall remain nameless and when I asked her DS what he would like for lunch he said " What I would really like is some sushi but I don't suppose that is possible" I said "well I was thinking more along the lines or a sandwich"

We compromised with fish fingers!

This isn't particularly poncey but it's funny. I've posted it a couple of times before...

Ds2 had a friend round to play when they were about 6. Friend started talking about the 'F word'.

Ds2 asked 'What's the F-word?'
Friend: 'It's a very bad word you mustn't say'
Ds2: 'But what is it?'
Friend (looking a bit desperate): 'It's very bad, you mustn't say it!'
Ds2 (pondering...): 'Oh, I know - I saw it painted on the railway bridge - it's eff, yoo, curly kuh, kicking kuh!'

Pleased to say he's 13 now and still doesn't say it!

NappiesGalore · 02/10/2008 10:56

lol at phonetic spelling

fortyplus · 02/10/2008 11:07

My 2.4 year old had a meltdown last weekend - he and DH were getting breakfast

DH- What do you want ?
DS - Brioche and mango juice please

DH - Sorry, theres no brioche, what about this instead
DS -no, no, don't want pain choclate, want bwioche

He loves sushi though, and on Sunday we were walking round with him wailing that 'I need noodles'

NappiesGalore · 02/10/2008 11:53

oh yes, many poncetastic points to the eschewer of pain au chocolat for bwioche.
