Incredibly clingy 2.5 year old - won't let me out on my own without tears!

DS has always been clingy, but now he won't even stay with DH on his own without tears. He won't let daddy change his nappy, get him dressed, read him stories, go to him at night... it's constantly mummy mummy mummy mummy mummy and it's doing my head in.

I'm worried as he's supposed to be starting pre-school two mornings a week when he's 2.6 - is this going to help or make things worse?

Any other advice? I'm getting really cross with him!

Does he stop if you do leave or does he just cry till you return?

Both of mine would cry when I left but within minutes of me leaving would be happy agiain.

Is he OK with your DH if you aren;t in the house? DS prefers me to do stuff (which I think is natural at 2) but he's happy with DH when I'm not around.

Do they spend any time together regularly?

He does stop when I leave, but I'm not sure he'd stop if I left him with strangers. I'd like to go to the local sports centre and put him in the creche but I'm not sure he'd cope.

DH and him do spend time together but only really at weekends as he's home so late.

Should I go for preschool in November or hold off til he's out of this phase?
