Violent DS

Help I have nevr had a problem with this before. My 6 year old DS was playing a football match yesterday, and got into a fight with another player and tried to strangle him. My son does playfight with his dad but we had set him strict boundries as to what he can or can't do. He had a friend over this am and he did it again. Why would he do this over silly things?

Does he watch this sort of thing on tv? If not, he might have picked it up from school. I also think boys seem to have an in built need to physically fight their corner. HTH. x

Does he realise how seriously he could hurt someone by strangling them?

I he being really aggressive or do you think there is an element of play fighting? Boys can be so wierd at times! I have 3 and sometimes I think why are you doing that???

Thanks for your replys. I think he gets at school wrestling moves, but he is not allowed to do this with me because I have a younger daughter. I don't know if this is play fighting got a bit out of control. He has been punished and was not allowed to go to a party. I just hope it was a 1 off

Have the teachers said they are worried about his behaviour? Without seeing what actually happened its difficult to judge, but boys do like to wrestle each other for some reason. Its like their way of connecting, to me.

Don't they say paly fighting is good for boys because they learn the boundaries with thier dads, rather than on other kids.

Both my boys have tried to strangle each other at some point. Once I made it extremly clear they wern't to do it it hasn't happened again.
