say a resounding 'AYE'

Its bloody bloody hard and its HORRIBLE and there is no bloody reward like there is with toddlers

and all your ideals about how you will be go out the window

and you say stuff you vowed you wouldn't

and all your liberalism disappears

and they answer you back- dont wash and dont tidy

they smirk when you bollock them

and life is one long restraint from telling them to ' f&*% off'

vent over

toddlers are easier

discuss

Oh yes.

I have 3 teens. Actually one of them is no longer a teen

Toddlers are hard physically I found. Teens emotionally and mentally. Life can be one long battle and I so empathise with the need to tell them to just bugger off!

But there are rewards.

I think....

I'll come back to you when I remember them.

fryalot · 26/09/2008 21:49

I have a teen and two toddlers.

The teen is hard work

you are so right...

SlartyBartFast · 26/09/2008 21:51

i remember fondly those days of ds aged 2 and a half running around the supermarket, grabbing a chicken, grabbing tights, and generlaly embarrassing me and upsetting me cos i had his newborn sister in the pram and couldnt run after him, well i had to,
would he come shopping with me now? he would walk 5 paces in front, behind, and would nto dream of being seen in the supermarket

GodzillasBumcheek · 26/09/2008 21:53

Depends which one is annoying at the time. Do 11 yo hormonal girls count as teens?

NotAnOtter · 26/09/2008 21:58

yes godzilla they truly are...

dd strted nasty pre teen behaviour at 10

OP posts:
SlartyBartFast · 26/09/2008 21:59

no peace

NotAnOtter · 26/09/2008 22:01

Jacksmybaby · 26/09/2008 22:01

Oh goody I have all this to look forward to in 11 or so years' time then! [goes off to gaze fondly at angelic sleeping toddler in cot]

Saggarmakersbottomknocker · 26/09/2008 22:02

NOA - I had 3 under 5. Bliss compared to this.

NotAnOtter · 26/09/2008 22:03

yes slarty

dd just rung to be picked up from regearsal

ds1 just rung from his work to ask if he can stay late - glass collecting

it is all such a bloody steep learning curve ....no right answers

god saggars - at first i lol at your post

then not sure whether to burst out crying

sleeping for 5 years could be an option... or drugs...

I have a 15 yr old son and 6yr old twin boys.None of the other Mums at the school gate have teenagers and think it must be a breeze. I just smile and think...you just wait!!They also assume he must be so helpful with the twins..yeah right, good at winding them more like!!I love meeting up with my friends who have teenagers as they know what its like!

NotAnOtter · 26/09/2008 22:09

coochybottom yes i agree

i feel quite annoyed as since my baby was born i CONSTANTLY get told 'at least yo have the older onnes to help out'

errrrrr

'here you go - YOU have them for a week and re assign your view of how much 'help' they are nice and pronto'

Sleep? WTF is that? Two of mine are out tonight. One is driving - that's a worry in itself. The 17 year-old is at an 18th birthday party. I won't drop off properly til they're both home safe. ds2 especially as he was mugged a couple of months ago, by a gang with a knife.

Tomorrow I'm taxi service for the younger two and somehow have to be at both ends of the city at the same time!

NotAnOtter · 26/09/2008 22:13

lol saggars - you look good on it though

Saggarmakersbottomknocker · 26/09/2008 22:16

I wish! I'm turning into my mother.

NotAnOtter · 26/09/2008 22:23

you look glam...

thats another thing about teen daughters

the way they look at you

'yeah your hair looks.....'nice' Mummy'

OP posts:
SlartyBartFast · 26/09/2008 22:28

that bit i am not looking foward to NAO.
my dds are pre-teens and are so lovely - mummy you look lovely/pretty regularly - i know it wont last

coochybottom · 26/09/2008 22:32

Surprisingly I often ask my teen son his opinion on clothes I have bought as I know he knows whats "cool" and will give me an honest answer. My DH will just say "yeah that looks great" just cos he thinks its what I want to hear!

GodzillasBumcheek · 26/09/2008 22:34

IKWYM...i can see the 'Your mum is cool/funny/crazy' comments drying up quickly in the near future (yes, me, ROTFLOL), and certainly no more 'ooh your house is nice' (i had recently hoovered. that's about it.)

NotAnOtter · 26/09/2008 22:45

well a friend also with a teen girl asked me recently if i evere considered there could be a competative edge to the teen girl /mother thing - which made me think.....

she is deffo jealous of my new boots!
