DD woke 4 times last night when she had rolled onto her front any ideas on what to do?

Lie her on her back, roll up two cellular blankets/towels that match the length of her body and wedge them either side of her. This is quite safe - I read it in the Gina Ford book

Leave her to settle herself. It may take a couple of nights, but she and you will be much better off in the long run.

or, put her in a sleeping bag and tuck the end of it into the end of the mattress?

PrettyCandles · 23/02/2005 14:36

Sleeping bag is a very good idea.

I read in "What to Expect in the First Year" that you should still put babies to bed on their backs until the first birthday but if they roll onto their fronts - then not to worry. The book advises 'that a baby who is able to change positions easily is at a significantly decreased risk for SIDS.' This is for 2 reasons:

  1. The high risk period for SIDS is generally passed by the time a baby can turn over, and

  2. A baby who can flip is better equipped to protect herself from whatever it is about tummy sleeping that increases SIDS risk.

Hopefully, this info will give some peace of mind.
