cranial oestopathy

i have a four week old that is not happy whatever we do with him. He cries in pushchair car seat and even when held. it seems to be worse when he is tired and if he does not fall asleep feeding then it is a nightmare to get him to sleep, Night is not too bad. Someone said to try cranial as he was 9 days overdue and i had c section so he could be still traumatised by the birth, any ideas as dont want to waste money but i am pulling my hair out and my little girl is suffering as all time taken up with a crying baby.

ang we went to a fantastic c o in leeds with ds3 - the change was AMAZING

ds is medical and really poo pood the whole thing but was forced to eat his words....i would highly recommend going

our baby was a real crier and he seemed calmer literally overnight

there are lots of positive stories of CO on here. I used it myself for ds1 and it did take a few sessions but he definately improved. He was a c section baby as well, cried a LOT, didnt sleep well etc etc. Its well worth it imo.

My friend had cranial osteopathy for her baby for exactly the same reason you described. It worked.

My DS also had CA for a wonky head. Not only did it sort that out, coupled with a Goi Goi pillow, it also had the benefit of somehow switching on the "sleep for 11 hours a night" button. That was when he was 12 weeks, he is now six months and still sleeps through. I don't want to take him back to the osteopath in case they somehow switch that lifesaving button off!

Where are you based? I can recommend somewhere in Clerkenwell, if you're in London.

DS had CO not CA, obviously. And the place I went to is donation so no hefty fees.

DD used to scream in the middle of the night. Real cry of distress. Took her to a cranial osteopath who took a very detailed history (horrendous birth), and after a few visits the middle of the night distress subsided...

Hi ang22 - we took DS2 to a chiropractor specialising in the treatment of babies - he was 3 weeks old and literally cried all day long, was unable to settle for naps during the day would pass out with exhaustion then wake up after 15 minutes, had to be held upright all the time and would scream when put on his back. 3 treatments in and he was like a different baby - he had a jammed neck in 3 places from a very quick labour (less then 2 hours from 1cm to delivery) and he was ventouse delivered as he was back to back and was stuck. He was comfort sucking to relieve the pain in his neck which was then giving him colic as he was overfeeding, but once his neck was sorted his colic eased off. he is now 9 months old and the happiest, smiliest baby I know. I would recommend this method of treatment to anyone - in fact if I ever had another baby I would take them as soon as possible after delivery regardless of what type of birth I had had. HTH

We're down south west but I wholeheartedly recommend c.o, it worked wonders for ds2 at 9 mths and has done for many dc's I know with varying sleep, eating and behavioural issues.
I would take any baby, purely for a check up. I wasn't expecting anything to be found with ds2 but it turned out he had some residual birth trauma which was pinching a nerve and affecting his spinal cord and stopping him sitting up comfortably. Within a week he was sitting absolutely fine.

If you can get to London, there's a college/ charity that offers CO for what you can afford. I have been to the one in Manchester.

Would definitely recommend CO - I took DD when she was about 6 wks old and it made a huge difference (she was also c-section delivery). She was v colicky, screamy and could never get her to burp after a feed. I fed her in the waiting room directly after the treatment and hey presto, a big wet burp. I only took her twice in all.

I also took DS at about 3 wks old because he was colicky and a v unhappy baby (yep I really got lucky in the colicky baby stakes ). It didn't work with him but I didn't regret the money spent because at least we tried.

i'm going through exactly the same thing right now with our 5 week old, i'm falling apart and have a 2 year old as well. thing is that I had a wonderful home birth, not too fast and really chilled out, in fact midwife said it was the calmest birth she had ever attended..which leaves little reason for his unhappiness. The CO says that it might be due to feeding issues I had from day 1, got a really bad case of nipple thrush which made feeding a trauma and may have stressed him out

just had another night of 1 hours sleep and know he will scream all day..he needs to be held all the time and is doubled up with wind...nothing seems to help

he has had 2 sessions with a cranial oestheopath. both times have turned him into a different baby - calm, relaxed, even happy. I wish I could afford to have it every day...we are having a session today and I can't wait. it doesn't seem to have an impact on the sleeping though, the effect seems quite short lived but maybe we need to go for few more weeks

it's breaking my heart to see him in so much discomfort all day and night

ang22 I am in Alton and used Back to Health here. They have a woman called Michelle who cured my DS of his reflux !!!

There number is 01420 80007 and here is the link to their website.

I would say it is definately worth a shot, I think initial consultation is about £30 and subsequent visits are about £27.

thank you all for help and recommendations. have an appointment for two weeks time so fingers crossed cos at the moment i am tearing my hair out!!! and living like a recluse stuck indoors all day.
