Can you please tell me what your summer born 4yr old can do in the following areas...

Writing

Reading

Recognising - Numbers/Letters

Counting

I just want to do a comparison after a meeting with the Reception teachers today!

Defo not chip No, I cringe at overly ambitious parents shovelling knowledge down their kids throats. When they're ready they will learn. Simple as. I agree that play is very important. Actually I feel sad that he is going to school at 4. I think 5 is a much better age. Oh and btw, he doesn't know all the flags/countries - just some of them!!

Agree with 4 being too young for school. And now with the EYFS it's creeping into nursery too.

Most kids seem to have one party trick type thing e.g. flags, naming car types or whatever but sitting him down every day at nursery to learn them is scary isn't it!
