3 1/2 year old - had a radical personality transplant

Hello, I'm new to mumsnet so forgive me if I'm not up to speed with all the bits but I was hoping someone migh tbe able to help me.

I have DS who is 3.5 now and has become completely different practically overnight. has started spitting and hitting and he tells me he can't help it and that his arms and legs and mouth just go that way. I have tried everything and nothing seems to work.

Please, any ideas, advice would be much appreciated

nothing seems to work because basically you have to give them time to learn and mature. They do this stuff cos they're 3

I must have been posting on here a couple of years now but in that time I've never seen anyone be able to recommend something to stop a 3 yr old getting angry/tantrummy.

It is honestly just a case of giving a firm, clear boundary so that he learns what is acceptable socially and what isn't. I think a couple of minutes time out in their room is a good sanction for hitting. It shows them mum doesn't want to spend time with them when they do this sort of thing.

And around 3/4 there's apparently a huge surge of testosterone into their little systems so they do become prone to outbursts etc.

Have you read 'raising boys'? if you google it I'm sure it will come up, it's a brilliant book and gives you a great picture of normal boy behavour and their needs as they grow older etc.

Hang in there - he won't be 3 forever!!
