What is/was your baby doing at 14 weeks old? Is mine quite advanced?

I'll get hung drawn and quartered for saying this, but mine eats food- feeds himself with a spoon as long as I put the food on the spoon for him. His favourite food is banana, he loved it and cries when it's all gone and refuses his bottle for it sometimes. He feeds himself 'finger foods' (only very basic things at the moment).

He laughs.

He laughs at ceebeebies when the characters or presenters laugh.

When I say 'dada' he says 'ah-ah'. When I make gurgle noises he copies me. When I squeel he squeels and then laughs.

He sits up by himself.

He loves anything colourful.

He laughs his head off when anyone says 'boo'.

He sleeps 11 hours at night.

He holds his own bottle.

He wants to stand up allllllllll the time, he's very strong.

If you say 'kiss' he opens his moth for a kiss, and 'cuddle' he puts his hands either side of his neck. And if you say 'kiss baby' he opens his mouth to kiss his newborn cousin.

And loads of other stuff.

He just seems really advanced to me. Do all babies do these things by 14 and a half weeks old?

LOL love Rab C and all the gang.Is it Xmas special?

BabyGenius · 25/08/2008 18:57

Scottishmummy- good job I've got a sense of humour isn't it? I was only upset about the ugly comment. The rest is water off a ducks back.. or a boastful mother's back

Hatrick- everyone says you want your first one to rush and grow up and your last one to stay a baby forever. I know that's how I'll be

Question is, will OP's child attend Oxbridge Uni or compete in the Olympics one day? Seems quite possible not, methinks.

Interesting about the weight bearing supposed to be bad for the baby, I thought it was P-take when I first read it in this thread but lots of you are saying the same thing -- how strange! My babies were mostly weight bearing insame way as OP's at same sort of age, without any long term harm.

The first picture is my son, yes. Where did you find that picture!?

The second is something I've not come across, but I will be sure to snap it up if it does.

Can I go back to the whole ranitidine/omeprazole topic.

I have been prescribed Ranitidine whilst pregnant with dd and with this pregnancy.

And I have taken omperazole for years-
Both have never given me any side effects.

Could you please show me some genuine, randomised and controlled studies showing that they are dangerous drugs either in pregnancy or in children/adults

I am getting a little concerned.
Thanks

Gosh, 15lb is a good weight for a baby with such severe reflux who has been hospitalised so often.

expatinscotland · 25/08/2008 19:15

shut yer piehole, mmj!

my daughter trumps you all!

boys already love her and my heart melted the other day when her old pal from Edinburgh came to stay with us and said, 'I'm gonnae be a footballer and DD1 a model and I'm gonnae marry because she's the bonniest lass in all Scotland.'

ach, she may no' be the brightest light in the harbour, but hey, looks count!

BabyGenius · 25/08/2008 19:15

I think it is, too. Weird thing is, when he was born he was 8lb 12 ozs, yet he was in tiny baby clothes as he was so long and thin. Now he's nothing like fat, but he's 15lb! He was hospitalised a lot in his first month, but he hasn't stayed overnight in hospital since.

Does he actually have to wear something that says 'genius'... My DS came out with that tatooed on his arse!!

youcannotbeserious · 25/08/2008 19:16

DH has it tatooed on his arse too (he's always right! ) so it's obviously genetic.

Nae need for tatts or klaze that say what her bonny face, lovely hair and long limbs say for themselves.

oi · 25/08/2008 19:20

I echo the surprise at your baby being on Wysoy.

If it is indeed a genuine post, I would ask for the formula to be revisited.

Did they check for milk allergies? Because that can cause symptoms which can appear like reflux and if it is indeed reflux, can make it a hell of a lot worse.

Both mine had reflux and allergies and one was on Nutramigen (the other I managed to breastfeed).

themildmanneredeelsmoker · 25/08/2008 19:20

only 15 lbs? ds1 was 15 lbs at 11 weeks.....

expat-ds1 is a HEATBREAKER he is so handsome. really gorgeous.and ds2 is beautiful 2 but a real little boy

ilovemydog · 25/08/2008 19:20

Am I the only one with a very young child?

DD just turned 2, and she's extremely shy, doesn't go to ballet, swimming, gymnastics, French or anything else. She likes the swings in the park and the seaside.

Not particularly advanced. But have been told she's such a 'nice girl...'

BabyGenius · 25/08/2008 19:21

Expatin- boys ran and hid from me at that age, she must be a beauty.. or I must be an ugly trout lol

Aitch · 25/08/2008 19:21

what are the downsides, riven? i've taken a few ranitidine when the preg indigestion got too much.

expatinscotland · 25/08/2008 19:21

get him into football, mmj. then he'll be handsome, fit AND rich .

expatinscotland · 25/08/2008 19:22

i take ranitidine every day.

just like i did with the other two.

if i didn't, i literally couldn't sleep or eat, my acid reflux is that bad.

i have to drink Gaviscon Advance on top of that.

i got an oesophageal ulcer with DD1 just trying to use rennies and wound up in hospital for a week.
