What is/was your baby doing at 14 weeks old? Is mine quite advanced?

I'll get hung drawn and quartered for saying this, but mine eats food- feeds himself with a spoon as long as I put the food on the spoon for him. His favourite food is banana, he loved it and cries when it's all gone and refuses his bottle for it sometimes. He feeds himself 'finger foods' (only very basic things at the moment).

He laughs.

He laughs at ceebeebies when the characters or presenters laugh.

When I say 'dada' he says 'ah-ah'. When I make gurgle noises he copies me. When I squeel he squeels and then laughs.

He sits up by himself.

He loves anything colourful.

He laughs his head off when anyone says 'boo'.

He sleeps 11 hours at night.

He holds his own bottle.

He wants to stand up allllllllll the time, he's very strong.

If you say 'kiss' he opens his moth for a kiss, and 'cuddle' he puts his hands either side of his neck. And if you say 'kiss baby' he opens his mouth to kiss his newborn cousin.

And loads of other stuff.

He just seems really advanced to me. Do all babies do these things by 14 and a half weeks old?

Aitch - had terrible cravings for pork pies (of all things) when pregnant with both dds. Only poncy expensive ones from Bridge of Allan deli, mind.

S1ur · 25/08/2008 20:49

Ah, so that's were all the spotty 14 year olds that people accuse of trolling on mn live. Next to you. how lovely for you!

BG - has your DS been tested for milk intolerance?

I only ask because A) excema is often a sign of milk intolerance and B)he is sick with milk...

although as others have said, hes a good weight for 14wks, my milk intolerant DS hadnt managed that weight by 14mths!

AND: just to take the heat of you for a mo...

DS5 was weaned at, at least 6mths (cant remember exactly when but i remember being curious because he wasnt ready at that point when all the others were really ready way before then!) and hes the only one with all the food problems, intolerance to: milk (casein not lactose), eggs, bananas, gluten, aspartame, 'red' juices... to name a few (havent even tried him with other obvious problem food yet!). So it doesnt always follow with that the theory of allergens and weaning too early!

Habbibu · 25/08/2008 21:08

I did vomit them up as soon as I got home, aitch - all the greasy joy with none of the calories

and babygenius is pissing me off. 4 meds my arse. There's only 3 main reflux meds and no consultant would have a 14 week old on 4 meds FFS.
(on SN)

Is it true then or made up?

MrsJohnCusack · 26/08/2008 01:37

this is all bollocks, no?

HereComeTheGirls · 26/08/2008 06:30

I didn't know sitting and standing early were signs of genius - what does that say about my dd who stood alone for first time yesterday at 22 mos.

HereComeTheGirls · 26/08/2008 06:32

(came to thread late as on holiday, i know it's moved on)

BabyGenius · 26/08/2008 12:02

Riven that is BITCHY. Why would I lie about my DS's reflux meds? And how would I know what they're called? Domperidone is Movicol, Ranitidine is so minty it chokes him and his gaviscon is half a sachet in every feed. Then he's on Wysoy which I was TOLD would reduce his gross reflux.

Not just bitchy but a bit naive for someone who's so into reflux.

And nevermind 'no consultant would have a 14 week old on 4 meds', he's been on them since he was a few weeks old.

So clearly you don't know everything on reflux.

wysoy isn't a medication though is it . Perhaps that led to the confusion. Although it might have been helpful for bananasandcream not to stir by cutting and pasting!

jimjamshaslefttheyurt · 26/08/2008 12:07

oh x-posted.

BabyGenius · 26/08/2008 12:07

Motilium not Movicol sorry

OP posts:
BabyGenius · 26/08/2008 12:09

I just class it as a medication as he gets it on prescription

Am shocked at bananasandcream's post! What was the point of cutting and pasting, if you had doubts ask them yourself, don't post other people's opinions!!
