is 2.4 yrs old too young for plasticine/playdoh?

my 2.4 yr old is obsessed with blue tack so i thought i would get her plasticine. what do others think please?

My ds is same age and father christmas got him some for christmas and he loves it. I have to keep an eye on him otherwise he eats it!!!

No should be fine - with supervision obviously.

Would say that playdough might be more pliable for little hands than plasticine.

Ds2 (2yrs) plays with playdoh (supervised) and loves it.

Playdoh is fine, my dd is 2 and has enjoyed playing with it for a few months now.

my 18m old loves play dough - I think as long as they are not the sort of 2 year olds who eat things then you should be OK!

Playdough is great - I've got a recipe if you want. Much cheaper than buying it from the shops, and they can help to make it. We used to add all sorts of colouring and glitter to it - great fun.
Plasticine is murder to get out of carpets - home made playdough just dries up and can be picked off easily.

my dd has had some playdoh since... september and she was 2 in October, she loves it! She did try and eat it a lot though but has sine stopped!

If you still have your "Birth to 5" book, there's a recipe in there.

Just dug my book out - here you go..

1 cup water
1 cup plain flour
2 tbsp cream of tartar
1/2 cup salt
1 tbsp cooking oil
Food colouring

Put in a pan and stir over a medium heat until this makes a dough. Cool. Store in a plastic box in the fridge.

DD has been playing with, supervised, playdoh since being about 18 months or so. She quite enjoys it. I am not so keen - too messy!

hi my ds has been playing with play doh for about 4mths supervised he loves the feel of it and pressing things in he is now 16mths...

Gave mine playdough from about 18 months. Loved it with the cut out shapes and roller.

My 15 month old plays with playdough at play group and loves it. Has to be watched though as does try to eat it occasionally

isn't plasticine used to make bombs?

what happens if kids eat the (bought) playdoh? I gave my DS playdoh for the first time today and he seemed to eat quite a bit of it!

keep it in the fridge at night and colour it with paint
