DD is desperate to stand at 19 weeks!

This is not veiled smugness btw. I am wondering if i should get a door bouncer, or what is best to stop what looks like frustration at not being able to stand. Is this why people get baby walkers ????

mine were all like that and we did have a baby walker and a door bouncer. All had strong head control etc and were walking at 9mths,12mths and 8.5mths respectively

Yes, this is why people get baby walkers. Ds1 loved his, and ds2 had a few bouts in it too.

I know people hate them, but if you take basic safety precautions I cannot see the problem. Babies LOVE them.

DD has been like this since about 16weeks, has always liked being upright but it started to get very frustrating for her at that age and still is now at 5.5months. We have a door bouncer which is ok for a while and I was thinking of walker but not many places sell them anymore - apparently they're dangerous!

It's v.annoying and only gets worse, DD now constantly arches her back to try and get me to put her up and does sit ups when on her back! She also pulls herself up holding my hair!

On the one hand, I'm told that door bouncers are bad for their hips...

On the other hand, both my DDs loved theirs - and I'm sure they are less of a liability than the baby walkers that are actually mobile. We hung one in the kitchen door to provide entertainment while mummy cooked.

What about one of those play stations where the baby is upright? Like a non moving walker?

Ooh, didnt expect so many replies!
Nemo i think DD will be an early walker too, she has the strong head control also.

TBGP, I am tempted by the walker, i think DD would love being on the move. She doesnt like sitting still for very long in bouncy chair or swing even!

Ewe - DD at this moment is arching her back to stand and this is why i always tie back my hair

Smithagain - thanks for the heads up re hips. DD had hip dysplasia (now out of harness thankfully) so will seek advice.

isaidno - I'm thinking about those too
