Tactics for almost 3 year old who has become VERY BOLSHY

I'm wondering what the wisdom of MN has to say on the matter of bolshy kids...

My dd1 is having a 'phase' (I hope!) and I find it really difficult to get her to do anything. She's fine and lovely as long as she's doing exactly what she wants to do but whinges and moans if I'm trying to get her to do something else.

I'd be over the moon if she'd only compromise a bit!

Offer her 2 options, (always both of these are acceptable to you) and she thinks she is choosing all the time

Jackstini - unfortunately she sees through me when I do that and just keeps repeating what she wants to do. Like yesterday ... we can go and have lunch or go straight home, which do you want? I want to go back to the swings, I want to go back to the swings, I want to ... waaah!

dd does sometimes do that! Then I tell her I am choosing then, pick one, and follow it through. Have had some public screeching sessions but she is getting better [hopeful emoticon!]

not really any advice to offer but ds is 3 and just the same - he is the bossiest little person I have ever come across. I am telling myself it's because he has a strong character! Offering 2 options doesn't work for me - he always finds a third and nothing else is acceptable!

Thanks for the advice. Managed to get her into bed with only the one screaming match, and then repetitions of 'I want a cuddle' for about 10 minutes...

Got my fingers crossed that she's going to miraculously turn into an angel (like she used to be!) on her 3rd bithday!
