We got one of these for our DD, no problems with it, but shes 6 months old now and the whole thing seems to squish in around her, shes all snuggled up in it. Do they all do this?

Just a bit worried as SIDs advice says not to cover their head, overheat etc and it seems very snug around her. I check to make sure shes not hot and often move her around in the night to a better position as she sleeps mostly on her side in it. I assume as she gets bigger, this problem will get worse. Should i think about moving her into a cot?

Maybe. I don't remember it being round their faces particularly. I did fix the mattress in slightly further up (maybe half an inch offset from the top of the velcro) to brace the head end a bit.

DD1 would get very upset if she managed to roll onto all fours, because then she was stuck. I moved her into a cot when she escaped and crawled round the bedroom. That was around 8 months. DD2 I moved at about 6 months as I recall, because she's a side sleeper, and I thought she'd be comfier (and she was old enough not to get stuck face down).

Probably worth starting to think about moving her into a cot. My DD had a nest and lvoed it until she could move and then constantly got herself trapped so it was good that she was already used to the cot and willing to sleep in it.

Has anyone had any trouble moving from nest to cot? DD is 9 months and been in the nest since birth, she sleeps like an angel and bounces herself back to sleep if she wakes in the night so I don't have to go in. Bliss! However, she is starting to get a bit long for the nest and I am terrified about 'the swap'. Does anyone have any tips or suggestions?

Hi SS - I moved dd when she was about 8 months (but she was a big baby - 97th centile for weight and height). She did seem to "collapse" into the middle of it for the last couple of months

The move into the cotbed was ok - couple of nights of being more unsettled than normal, then she was back to normal. The first week or so, I had rolled up blankets tucked down the sides of the cot to make it seem smaller, then gradually started taking them away

To move ds from his hammock into his cot i started putting him in it for daytime sleeps
the sids issue didn't worry me, as the sides are mesh, and he used to wake up and cry if he'd rolled over and got stuck
it was a shame to move him from his hammock, as he loved it!
