Putting things in mouth

My 2.9 yr old constantly puts things in his mouth - scraps from the floor, cigarette butts, stones - and I'm terrified he'll choke on something. Worse, he's started putting things in his brother's (4 mths) mouth. So far we've had marmite on toast and a stone which passed all the way through. Any advice on how to stop this behaviour??

I don't think you can stop it, it's just him exploring his environment. I think you'll just have to keep a close eye on him. Sorry, that's probubly not much help.
