Does anyone else have a three year old DD with demonic tendencies?

Because I fear I'm the only person in the world to have produced a delinquent of such tender years.

Seriously, she is doing my head in to the point that I'm actually worried that I'm "unbonding" with her, and that maybe she has some sort of behavioural problem.

She hardly ever seems to play nicely with other children, but is constantly trying to scare them (e.g. shouting boo at them, or shoving toys in their faces to make them recoil iykwim).

She can't leave DS (nearly two) alone for one bloody minute. She is constantly pushing him over, shouting in his face, snatching his toys and tormenting him.

When we go out, she routinely flops down in the street and refuses to walk. This is alternated with sprinting at full pelt towards the nearest road.

I can hardly bear to go to the playground as she hurls herself in and off climbing frames like Spiderman on crack. I spend the whole time with my heart in my mouth trying to stop her from breaking her neck.

I find myself repeating requests a bazillion times.

I really hoped it was an extended terrible twos phase, but it's showing no signs of improvement.

Where have I gone wrong??????

You haven't gone wrong.

If anyone has a 3 year old WITHOUT 'demonic tendancies' I'll eat Noel Edmonds crusty Y's straight off his bathroom floor.

MadamAnt · 08/07/2008 19:40

Really? Do you really mean that? (That everyone has demonic three year olds, not the bit about Noel Edmonds crusty Y fronts )?

Because everywhere I turn I see angelic girls carrying dollies and tenderly caring for their younger siblings, and climbing up the climbing frame steps sensibly, and sliding down the slide, and DD in comparison is like a violent whirling dervish.

Oh yes I mean it! They're all animals at that age. BLOODY SCARY ANIMALS!!!

But seriously, if you feel worried, go to gp. O take a look at her diet - some additives can make them hyper. Mine are gluten intolerant and they've calmed down loads since they went GF. Or maybe she might like some extra 1:1 with you?

The sibling stuff - it's normal. As I speak, my 7yr old and 9yr old sons are dive bombing each other. The screams are blood curdling. Ds2 can regularly be heard yelling "DON'T YOU HIT ME" as ds1 chases him round the living room with a cricket bat One day I'll have ss round

Are you me?
Because you are writing about my daughter...

fryalot · 08/07/2008 19:52

me too.

She missed nursery today and has gone stir crazy at home.

She decided that a good game would be to cut mummy up so she got a plastic knife out of the drawer and proceeded to try and cut me.

Despite my repeatedly telling her to stop it, she wouldn't.

In the end I picked her up and put her in the corner.

She came out of the corner saying "you can't make me stay there"

grr!

okay, ignore me. I don't in fact have a demonic three year old.

Ripeberry · 08/07/2008 19:55

Don't worry it's normal! My DD2 is 4yrs old in December and at the moment she is into everything, one minute is angelic and then turns into the devil child and struts off like a teenager!
If we go anywhere, my two DDs play up no end and what puts the pressure on is when OTHER peoples children SEEM to be so angelic and sitting nicely whilst mine cause mayhem.
Makes you wonder what those parents do to make their kids behave, or they were just lucky?
It's a phase and it will pass soon enough and then its teenagehood

springerspaniel · 08/07/2008 20:25

Yip. DS is three this one. Definite devil worship.

Yip. DS is three this week. Definite devil worship.

springerspaniel · 08/07/2008 20:26

Oops.

MadamAnt · 08/07/2008 21:03

lol at death by plastic knife.

at the prospect of teenagerdom.

We've recently moved house (and have had no nursery for weeks) which I think must be contributing to the escalating mania.
