11 weeks - sleep

DD is formula fed and still not sleeping longer stretches than 4/5 hours at a time. She is so noisy and never settles after her 4am feed. Constant grunting/squirming/trumping then wakes herself crying. I’m absolutely exhausted as I can’t sleep through the noises (earplugs and white noise in full force).

I have terrible PPD this time, 5 weeks into sertraline and still feeling like I’ve ruined everything. She has only just calmed down in the day time but the first 8 weeks were constant screams.

Yes we had the unicorn baby first who was peacefully sleeping through the night by this point. He’s 3 and still sleeps soundly.

I know all babies are different but dear god when will the noises stop? I have never felt sleep deprivation like it.

OP posts:
Are your children’s vaccines up to date?

If that is disturbing you so much then try to distract yourself or try to change your sleeping pattern. Talk to the child's paediatrician to give you some tips for regulating your child's sleep so that your sleep pattern also gets better.

I’m sorry that you’re struggling so much @Whatisgoingoff2024but I do think asking an 11 week old to sleep for longer than 5 hours is a little unrealistic. 5 hours afterall is considered sleeping through.

If she’s been screaming a lot though and trumps a lot, have you tried once of the comfort type formulas?

You haven’t ruined anything. Eleven weeks is still so little, and babies can be completely different when it comes to sleep. But the PPD and exhaustion sound really hard, so please let your GP or health visitor know how you’re feeling, especially as you’re still struggling after five weeks on sertraline. You deserve support too, not just to keep pushing through.
