I’ve been wondering lately whether we’ve gone a bit too far with keeping children constantly entertained. Between school, clubs, screens, homework and weekend activities, there seems to be very little time for them to simply potter about, get bored and make their own fun.
When I was younger, boredom usually ended with making up a game, reading something random or going outside. Now it feels as though there’s pressure to fill every spare hour with something “useful”.
I’m starting to think a bit of boredom might actually be quite healthy for creativity and independence.
Do you deliberately leave some unscheduled time for your children, or does family life naturally end up packed anyway?
