my 14 week old dd has had bad cradle cap for a couple of months. I've been oiling it and shampooing it and it is improving but as it comes away her hair is also coming off

can someone tell me if this normal please

yes, normal. It's hair that would have fallen out ages ago but got stuck in the cradle cap. Lots of threads on this - have a search.

I think babies shed hair quite early on don't they? It'll grow back.

Same happened to my ds.... area of hair loss and cradle cap. But it all grew back and cradle cap improved on its own over time so don't stress. I didn't use any shampoos. Just applied olive oil, left it for a couple hours and then combed. He seemed to enjoy it. It was all on the top of his head. The hair there is thicker than everywhere else now.
