Please be kind as I feel on the verge of running away.
DD one month old, she has been very unsettled since birth. Particularly after feeds, difficult to console and sometimes taking 2/3 hours to settle. Straining for hours through the night and waking self up crying every 30 mins. Suspect she has a lot of gastro related pain although was pooing every 2 ish days.
HV thought maybe CMPA, GP wasn’t convinced but was happy to prescribe a trial run. We have been on Nutramigen for 8 days now, saw a relative improvement in terms of her being settled/ happy to be awake. BUT we are now experiencing lots of reflux issues. She’s frequently bringing up milk, coughing, regurgitating, gagging after feeds. Sometimes I think she’s going to choke. The issue is worse at night time as she lies flat. She doesn’t seem to get a solid block of sleep, it just seems to be constant intervals and her waking up crying.
I’m absolutely exhausted. I feel like I’m failing as her mother as we just aren’t bonding yet and I have no idea how to help her.
We have to trial the Nutrimagen for another week, then go back to formula to see how she reacts. She was initially on Kendamill and expressed breast milk. I don’t want to go back to kendamil as I cant help but think she just wasn’t getting on with it (as opposed to an actual milk allergy). I plan to try HIPP organic as I’ve read this can be gentler on the tummy. Im no longer pumping as it was making me so stressed.
My hormones and emotions are all over the place. I’m constantly palpitating and feel in a sense of stress and panic. I’m really not enjoying the newborn phase and feel awful for wishing the days away.
I know I shouldn’t compare but my 3 year old boy was completely different, very easy in comparison, we had no feeding issues and he slept well.
It’s making me feel so stressed that she is waking so frequently day and night time. Even a 3 hour block of sleep would be nice.
My husband is very helpful but is now back at work so naturally he can’t help as much.
The nutrimagen is so thin which I suspect is exacerbating her reflux issues. What do we do? How do we help her?
Has anyone been on nutramigen and experienced similar?
