DS1 is also 3 and just doesn't get it.
I don't know the solution but will lurk for answers.

I think it's something to do with brain development actually. So you can't actually do it 'til a certain stage. My ds1 is 4.5 and can't blow yet. Always ends up being a sniff though he does try.

Well the funny thing is - all the little girls I know can blow and none of the boys can

DS just started at 4

we askedhim to blow a candle with his nose or blow fire through nostrils like an angry dragon.

My dd cracked it at 3 when I stopped telling her to "blow" (which she did through her mouth!) and instead told her to close her mouth and "snort" through her nose.... worked for us!

Mine can blow their noses, but they really hate doing it - make a huge fuss and prefer to sniff, and when they do blow, it's normally so gently it doesn't do an awful lot... So don't assume knowing how to blow your nose equates with being sensible enough to do it!

On a connected note, anyone else had trouble teaching their child how to spit? My eldest finally worked this out, but my younger one still swallows his toothpaste and then makes a funny noise, which he seems to think is spitting, even though nothing comes out...
