DD 'hearing' voices

A few years ago DD was bullied - we dealt with it and then moved schools

She recently(during this week Mon/Tues?) read a book where a child (with her name) was being bullied (about the same stuff) using the same words

She was upset but we talked it through & we decided it was good that the book had been written and that it might help other children to address bulling and bullies

Her G-Nana died last week as well & we are having some financial difficulties

She has come to me 3 or 4 times saying that she keeps hearing people shouting her name & that they are angry

Do I just take the line that she has too much to deal with ATM and that this is stress or do I worry?

How old is she??

IMO it sounds like a stress response. Some of the new stuff for teenagers about hearing voices says its normal, we all do (ie ever think you've heard the phone ring while you're hoovering and realised it wasn't or thought you heard your name being called in the street, turned round and no one there?). It goes on to say that when we are stressed, preoccupied or had traumatic event (ie death in family would be one) more likely to hear/see/feel things that aren't real.
If you then treat the hearing voices as 'normal' given what been through ie bereavement and bullying, the voices tend to lessen or go away

sounds like its been a tough time for her and you so look after yourselves

Personally, i would see how she goes for a few months over school hols and how comes to terms with losing g-nana. I think the tlc approach you're using ie talking about stuff is just right and she clearly feels its ok to tell you about the voices which is a good thing too. I would just carry on being there for her and see how she gets on. Hope it works out ok

I guess

Wish they came with an instruction book
