DD started having imaginary pets at age 2 - started off as two invisible ("not imaginary, Mum") dogs, she later gained an invisible pony and various puppies. They were a total lifesaver for years when out shopping etc as she could usually be persuaded to 'play' with them when bored. They persisted through reception in school but finally seem to have vanished now she is in yr 1. I'm sad to see them go - I always found it very sweet and they definitely livened up a lot of otherwise boring bus journeys.

My LO an only child certainally has a VIVID imagination, as we have entertained a variety of imaginary animals...

Out with friends in a family friendly pub, LO dragged male friend round pub shouting at top of her voice for "Pippins" her blue dog. It was hilarous to watch, as she was peering under tables, and people were then looking around baffled for a dog in the pub that wasn't there!

Cried because "Aunty has taken her 2 Pippins" and then a few days later runs excitably up to me shouting, "They're back Mummy! Aunty T given me 2 Pippins back!"

Exclaims crossly "Mummy you just stood on my cow!" as I walked across the rug - silly me how did I know that we gained a cow and it was eating the rug?!

LoL BionicEar - I also have funny memories of DD losing her invisible dogs, and going all round the yard calling and looking for them.
