Nine month old not babbling or gesturing yet, should I worry?

Hi all,

my 9 month old isn’t ‘babbling’ as in mumumum bababab. She is making lots of sounds ( mostly sounding like singing/ screaming) but she also isn’t making any gestures yet. She smiles and laughs and cries for us, recognises some words (I think) like her sisters name and the dogs name. And she does respond to her own name.

just concerned as advice says this should start between 7-10 months, but along with the lack of gestures like waving and clapping I don’t have a lot to go on in terms of communication development. She also seems to whinge ALOT but she has cut 8 teeth in 2 months 😅 should I be worried?

There is a very simple way to find out if she needs a bit of support and that’s by doing this simple progress checker from Speech & Language UK Smile

Sounds completely normal to me. She's still so little still
