hi there,

i wasnt sure where to post this one... if you think there is a better place please let me know.

my baby (11 months) loves opening and closing doors, her favorite bit in the nursery is the home corner with child size cupboards, basin, etc...

i've seen some made out of plastic for the bargain of 200 pounds .

does anyone have a more affordable suggestion, lets say, up to 50/60 pounds?

thank you!

what about making yoru own? get a big cardboard box, cut 3 sides out to make a door in one of the sides cut a bit out to make a handle and hey presto a door! Could make it like a washing machine with a round door if you are feeling creative!!!

My son likes this kind of thing, he was bought for christmas (at 18 months old) Early Learning Centre HappyLand police station.

The door opens and closes, there is a telephone that you press and it rings, and the door mat makes a noise too.

see this for all the happyland buildings

I like ELC because they are quite robust products and expect a bashing.

Obviously it isn't a full house, the do do one but it is terribly pink but a bargain at £30

What about one of these, maybe a bit old I know but would be good value. There are other cardboard houses, like pop up tents, but their doors and things "work" much better than a fabric one and they do colapse down, at least a bit! www.cardboardtoys.com/acatalog/Cardboard_play_houses.html

my friend's ds loves doors and loves his little likes cosy coupe. (think they are about 40 quid new but lots on ebay) he spends far more time sitting in it closing and opening the door than he does trying to drive it my dd on the other hand has completely missed the point of the door and always enters and exits his car by the rear window!

I have a 3 little pigs toy

It has 3 stackable houses (one inside another) keys for each door (plus pigs & wolf) - it's a lot less than you budget & your DS might like it - I think it is from ELC

I can't see it on-line but do look out for it at car boots etc

ELC happyland has plenty of doors, and years of fun in it. my dc had it when one of them was 18mo and they have added to it for years, now we have a whole town of the stuff and they all (age 7,4 and 2) all play with it. the 7yo only does with the little ones now but still...
you can get as many or few bits as you want, would suggest the play mat cos everything goes on it, but teh fire station has plenty doors!!!
