just out of interest, how many do your DCs have and at what age? My DS has 3 currently, one a dog, one a cat and one a girl/woman. He's 3.4.

Dd has just started having a 'dog' - she's nearly 3. I was deeply into this as a small child.

Hulababy · 23/06/2008 20:42

DD's have now left. She had two up until the age of 5.

FurryFox · 23/06/2008 20:47

Dd is 2.10 and has just started talking about a dog called Tom, he's only ever in her room though and isn't always with her.

monkeycat · 23/06/2008 23:29

DD is 3.6 and has a whole host of them!
The main one has been with us for a long time now and we get new additions to the gang every few months . Their characters also develop according to what is going on at home .

She has several 'siblings' who have their own grannies . There are also 2 dogs , another 2 dogs belonging to her 'sisters' granny and a ginger cat.

Life can get pretty complicated and crowded in our house !

DD had one (Spencer from Balamory apparently) for about a year from about 2.6 to 3.6

harpomarx · 23/06/2008 23:35

DD is nearly 4 and has had one for quite some time. She has recently added another three. They are all girls with improbable names, have brightly coloured hair and are always whizzing around in their sports cars. I suspect they are Bratz wannabes.

I find it really unnerving when dd turns to me with a glint in her eye and says 'X (imaginary friend) is here!'

reminds me of this

hmmm the dog seems to be a common one. interesting isn't it. does anyone know what imaginary friends are all about? just a normal development phase or does it mean our kids are destined to become booker winning authors or something ...
not all kids have them do they. DS has added a new one since we moved to a new country and he's been v unsettled and has no friends yet so can't help thinking it has something to do with that
