I started giving my dd her breakfast milk in a beaker at around 11 months. She didn't like it at first but perseverance is the key. Once she was happy with that i started giving her bedtime milk from a beaker too. I found by doing it in two stages, it didn't mean too much change all at once.

12 months is recommended and totally "do-able". We kept our son on his night bottle until he was 20 months (and would've for longer except for nanny's insistence) and morning bottle until 21 months. They're much harder to wean later than earlier!
