Any late crawlers?

My DD has just turned 1. She sits unsupported. She can roll to the side and grab things. She used to roll onto her tummy but has stopped doing that now. I can tell she doesn’t like it. She looks nowhere near like she’s about to crawl. Can’t stand unsupported holding onto something. She can stand if I hold her hands. Can’t pull herself up onto things.

should I be concerned or is she just a late bloomer?
both my DS’s crawled and walked by 1 year of age.

Hmm the crawling isn't an issue, it's no longer a milestone but I'd keep an eye on not pulling to stand etc and maybe book a GP appointment to get her hips etc checked - no harm in doing so. Best case she's a late bloomer, but if she needs physio or intervention it's better known earlier :)

I too dont think crawling is the issue here. It’s recently been removed from the milestones.

If you’re in the UK, has LO had their 10 month check yet?

hahavzv · 22/02/2026 14:48

She has had the 1 year check up and they said they will review in 3 months time. This was mid Jan.

I suppose at least they are going to follow up. Do you know how she scored? Did she score in the grey ot in the black for gross motor skills and did she score in the grey or black in any other areas?

Sorry I’m assuming the HV had asked you to fill in the 12 month Ages & Stages? If she didn’t, I think it’s worth filling it in over the next couple of days and seeing how she scores Flowers

I did fill it in but don’t remember the score at all. She did say that she scored low for the gross motor. And that’s what they will probably follow up in a few times. But since that appointment and now there’s been no improvement

It’s a shame that you don’t have the score. Scoring low is fine in one or two areas as all babies dont develop every skill at the at the same time.

If she didn’t score on the black got any skill or she scored in the grey for more than two areas your HV should have referred you to a Paediatrician.

I’d be tempted to fill it in again and see how she scores Flowers

So I’ve just had a look at the form that’s on this thread and I only got the 2 first sheets of the form. But the only black area was the gross motor skills. And communication was in between the grey and white. Everything else was in the white.

Ok so of she was in the black and hasn’t made any improvement, i book an appointment with your GP, take the completed form and ask for a referral to a Paediatrician and Physio and ask for the GP to check her hips.

If she was in the black a month ago the HV should have made these referrals then Flowers
