What to expect at assessment

Morning all. My youngest will be 3 in august. He is the youngest of all 4 of my sons. He is suspected to have asd and I have no experience on it at all.

He has an assessment next week & I have no idea what to expect or what they'll do during it. They said it will be a hour long and a consultant will be present. He is non verbal & has no concept of receptive language.

Has anyones little one had this assessment before and if so what should i expect them to do during it?

My AuDHD DC was older wheb they were diagnosed. We initially saw a Nurse Practitioner who asked a lot pf questions but in a kind and friendly way. We then saw a Speech Therapist, but had to wait about 18 months for that appointment. Again the Speech Therapist was lovely with my DC. She asked me some questions and did some things with DC.

Then it went to a panel and we got their diagnosis.

I would recommend going over the SN section. There will be other MNers in there who have gone through this process and can talk you through theor experience.

Have you applied for an ECHP yet and DLA?

Hello thank you i will have a look on there now. No I haven't, he does have a section 23 but I don't have a physical copy (if there is one) but no dla or echp yet. He has a place at nursery for October this year at a nursery connection to a primary school x
