Just remembered that I never felt a soft spot on ds1's head. could it part of the problem?

DS1 just got diagnosed with ASD. he started regressing from about 15months.

I just remembered that when I tried to feel the famous 'soft spot' when he was a few days old, i didn't feel anything which I assumed because I didn't know what to look for.
Then the midwife checked his head and limbs before discharging us to HV and said 'Oh, it's closed! he has no soft spot.' then discharged us as though there was nothing to it.
I've always thought it was normal and forgot about it but I'm wondering if I should have mentioned it to the pead.
Has anyone had any experience of this?

I have three children with autism, only one that is wide awake at the moment so I may disappear soon
my 3 all had soft spots I wouldn't think there is a connection.
sorry to hear that you got a ASD dx I know it is probably a shock for you.
how old is you ds?

No, it's not a marker. I think checking the fontanelles (sp?) is just a nb check

without wishing to cause you distress, a child of a colleague of mine had no soft spot. He was born early and they discovered lack of soft spot when they tried to do a brain scan to check for haemorrages. He had to have various operations. I would be inclined to discuss this with your gp, in case it may need some monitoring/ investigation.
