7 year old son. Very loving and intelligent but my God he needs constant entertainment! I find him exhausting! He does martial arts 4 times a week after School and Saturday morning, swimming once a week and football once. He’s allowed some screen time consisting of Minecraft or similar or movies or horrible histories etc. However when he isn’t doing this he’s following us around! Has Lego, drawing, puzzles, clay, blocks etc etc easily accessible.. as in every single storage unit in the house is full of his stuff yet he will open a kitchen drawer to get paper work of ours out or cooking utensils!
I can usually get him to sit and do lego for a bit or he will read but it’s so short lived then he’s back following us around! Or saying he’s hungry which I actually think is boredom!
I think I was similar as a child and I hated TV which must have made it even harder to entertain me! My son would happily have a screen a lot more but we don’t want that. Sadly it meant as a young adult I found being alone hard and had no independence. Thankfully I am a lot better now!
How do we get him to play alone? I feel bad but his constant want for attention is a lot when I need to get stuff done! He’s quite clingy to me and still comes into our bed at night some nights too.
