Hi everyone.

I am a mother of two children who are 5 and 3 year olds. My 3 year old is developmentally delayed emotionally and with his speech and language and therefore he struggles around communicating and understanding on a daily basis. We try and be clear with him about what we need him to do etc or what is expected of him on a daily basis using makaton where necessary and getting him to watch our lips when speaking . We keep speech with him short and straight to the point so for example , L put your shoes on instead of get down from the table,go to the porch and put your shoes on. Does anyone have any advise around helping him ?
Another issue we are currently facing is that he has alot of frustration and anger towards mummy and he hits me, spits, screams for hours, talks to mummy with anger and aggression and lots more. It's wearing me down and I feel so exhausted. Does anyone have any advise for me ?

Thanks,

Think about him being half is chronological age and adjust your expectations to that. Also try not to be too directive and adjust to inclusive "let's put our shoes on together"

@89chicki had one with speech delay and it’s hard isn’t it?

Is he under SaLT and Portage and has he had an OT assessment?

SleafordSods trying really hard to get him a n OT app but like every other app its a real struggle to get him one. Yes he is with SALT but not portage we've tried but they've declined. Same for our daughter who has complex needs it's such a huge battle for anything .

It is so hard, bloody exhausting usually. Do you ever ask for advice on the SN Children section? The MNers in there are usually supportive of nothing else Flowers
