currently at wits end as 14 month old dd won't stay in her cot. i know that putting her in bed with us has not helped, but i really want to nip this behavour in the bud!
anyway the reason im asking is that when she does come in to bed all she wants is to cuddle she wraps her arms round my neck and falls asleep. as it seems it is me she wants i am wondering if i could give her my pillow? i have had it for years and is now the most lifeless pillow ever-i'd say it was more of my comforter. i know it stinks of me so thought this might comfort her and was really wondering if this was safe??

My DS has had a pillow for several months now, he's 16mths.

Actually I would be more concerned about dust mites than the flatness or not of pillow.

Why not use one of your used pillowcases IYSWIM on a new pillow?

ooh hadn't thought of that. she's just gone right off to sleep in her own cot with it without too much fuss, so will try that tomorrow!
this may not even work but im shattered and i hate that ive succumbed to bringing her in to our bed!

ikea pillows (maybe for kids beds, cant remember) are v flat and therefore good for younguns. ime.

Agree with Haventslept - give her something that smells of you!

Fwiw, my dd didn't have a pillow until she was 5ish (she did try at a younger age but didn't particularly like it, ds was about 3)

pillows are ok from 1 year although ds had a goi goi pillow in his cot from a few weeks old (help prevent/correct flattening of the head). I got a cot pillow when he was a bit older from tkmaxx for about £7.

I second the IKEA pillow idea - we got DS one (I think it's one for cots), it's smaller than a normal pillow and he adores it. He definitely slept a lot better after having it.
