11 month old sleeping all the time - normal?

Ok, I know I am probably lucky but my 11mo ds has never been a napper, he usually has 2 30 mins a day.

Well in the past week his day goes:

7am wake
9am nap for 2-3 hours
1pm nap for 2-3 hours
6:30 bed

Is this normal? If I take him out for the day he sleeps an hour max in his pushchair but is so grumpy and miserable I end up bringing him home to sleep in his cot!

Is this too much sleep, and can a baby who has never really slept during the day suddenly start doing it?

Is it the heat?

Mine slept more when it was hot.

Is he well otherwise?

He seems ok in himself, just appears tired all the time!

Can teething do this, I blame everything else on the teeth!!!

Possible re teeth.Mine go off their food and get sore bottoms, grumpy in mood etc.

If you are concerned go to GP.

In the meantime,enjoy.!!!

my 22 mth ds has been napping for longer this week due to either the heat or a growth spurt. If yo uare concerned have a word with the hv. Could your lo be coming down with a bug?

SpecialOffer · 11/06/2008 20:05

I don't think he is coming down with anything, he has had a mild cold/cough for a week or so, maybe that is it. Might see how he goes over the next week or so. He had 4 hours of naps today - I still think that is too much, but he sleeps like a dream at night??

My DS always has a few days at the end of a cold/bug where he sleeps for ages (though admittedly not that long - maybe 2 hrs in the morning and 1 in the afternoon). It usually also coincides with him getting back to normal at night and after a few days he is better.

(Well except at the moment he is completely to pot, but this was the pattern from about 6mo to1yr)
