6 month old constantly straining

For the past month or so, more noticeable in the past week i would say, DS who is 6 months has been straining(as if he is doing the toilet but not) multiple times during the day. His bowel habits haven’t changed, he still goes once, sometimes twice a day and the appearance of it hasn’t changed either. He’s been on solids for a couple of weeks now and is offered water with every meal so i don’t believe it has anything to do with constipation. He goes really red in the face when doing so aswell. Is it worth mentioning to his HV or GP? Or has anyone had any experience with this at all?

Sounds fairly normal. It can take them a wee while to get used to digesting solids. Are you offering solids once a day?

It’s also perfectly fine to not offer solids for a couple of days to see if the straining stops Smile
