I had my preschool parent/teacher interview last week and im wondering if anyone can help with this.
My dd found it extremely difficult being left there the first week but has settled really well since and really seems to enjoy it.
I was totally blind sided at the interview as the teacher made the following points
Hates putting away toys
Needs to "feel seen" and requires a lot of praise
Demands 1 to 1 time by bringing a book to a teacher
Issues regulating feelings (relating to her meltdowns the first week - hasnt happened since)
The only positives i came away with were
Initiates play and conversation with other kids
Speech and understanding fantastic
Independent toileting
She finished up by giving me a sheet of strategies to help my child, stating that if there is no improvement befire christmas then there will be "further intervention".
I find my dd to be happy, talkative, communicates well, keen to please, mostly follows commands very well, tantrums have all but disappeared since starting preschool. I feel like this interview could have been about someone elses child because it certainly doesnt sound like mine.
Im going to request a follow up to voice my concerns and ask for specific examples but I feel like she has left me feeling like my child may have additional needs and i really feel like she absolutely does not.
Can anyone advise on any of this?
