DS (6MO) has never shed a tear in his life

...Is this normal?

He is a contented little chap on the whole, and only cries when he needs something. When he does cry, he sheds no tears, unlike the other babies I know. Not that I want him to cry, you understand, it's just curious. Thoughts?

Thanks hoochiemomma, that's helpful. I can't say I've even noticed that his eyes are wet, but I'll look out for it next time he cries. His eyes never seem dry or sore, so I'm certain he must have some tears somewhere!!

Sanguine

DD was like this. She can cry me a river now at 1yo if she doesn't get her own way.

Some children don't produce tears! They normally do just about produce enough to keep the eye moisturised though, just not enough to have streaming down face tears! Might be worht getting a referral to opthalmologist to see how much moisture he does produce in case he needs artifical tear drops.

I didn't cry tears till I was about 14 - something about the shape of my eyes meant they drained as fast as they were produced.

Perfectly normal in every other way...
