Struggling

My 8 week old is the sunshine of our lives. She’s so smiley and chatty! We are so incredibly smitten by her. But she’s also very very full on and we are seriously running out of steam so need a little encouragement and hopefully confirmation things will get better soon from anyone having experienced a similar baby to the below!

She is a contact napper which means she needs to be in our arms non stop. Pretty classic baby behaviour I know. We have tried just about everything from carrier to white noise, swaddling etc.. that means we are basically glued to the sofa non stop. When my husband is at work I literally feel like I’m going crazy. The second I put her down she’s awake and fussing/crying. Even if I put her down in deep sleep, I get 5/10min at best.

She also fights sleep so hard during the day! She needs about 20min of rocking to fall asleep even when we create a peaceful environment and will then only nap for 20min before her eyes spring wide open again. At this point I would settle for contact naps beyond the 20min mark but even that is proving really tough. She also majorly suffers from gas and reflux which makes for incredibly difficult witching hours…

It’s absolutely exhausting. I know newborns are a lot of work but we have reached a bit of a breaking points with no family around to take the load off occasionally, it’s getting very difficult to see light at the end of the tunnel. Please tell me it gets better! Even though I’m with my husband non stop, I miss him like crazy. We love her so so dearly but I just want a semblance of a life back or even 10min to breathe!

I had exactly this with my first and it turned out to be Tongue tie.

Could that be an issue with your LO?

@BunnyRuddingtonyes she had a tongue tie and got the procedure done at 2 weeks so over 6 weeks ago now

Ok so it might be worth having that checked again as they can reattach. It’s also not unheard of that there’s a further tie that was missed originally Flowers

I have another osteo appointment today and will check for tongue tie reattaching, that’s probably what’s causing the gas to be honest. I’m just looking forward to the time I’ll be able to put her down for 5min. I’m basically glued to the yoga ball these days and everyone always goes on and on about baby wearing when you have a Velcro baby except she absolutely hates it.

What kind of sling or carrier do you have? Mine hates baby carriers but were ok in big stretchy slings but even then, only in certain positions.
