I have a F (6) daughter, who’s always had this thing where she closes up in certain situations. For example, if there was someone in the room that she didn’t know she would hold my leg tightly, sometimes for hours until we left.
Recently, it’s been grandparents in hospital. Both her male grandparents have spent time in hospital in the last 9 months, and my daughter (despite having a close bond with them both) completely shuts the door. She won’t look at them, talk to them or acknowledge them.
could this be a behavioural / developmental / anxiety related issue?
it’s worth mentioning that outside of these ‘episodes’ she’s confident and bubbly. But when these situations occur she digs her heels in and there’s no room for movement.
